learn about Bio Conservation Society
Bio Conservation Society (BCSL) was founded in March 2012 and registered as an NGO in May 2013 in Sri Lanka. So far, the organization has conducted several awareness programs and educational exhibitions on sea turtle and coastal biodiversity conservation in the eastern, southern, western, and northwestern provinces of Sri Lanka, especially targeting fishermen and all the fishing community members, including school kids. Beach surveys were conducted to estimate sea turtle nesting. Rescue and release of by-catch sea turtles and fishermen's attitudinal surveys on coastal biodiversity conservation were conducted. Currently, awareness programs and awareness workshops are being conducted for the fisheries community in the northwestern coast of Sri Lanka on sea turtle and coastal biodiversity conservation.
